After a great performance in her first collegiate heptathlon, track & field freshman Summer Walter (Warren, Pa./Bayside (Va.)) has been named the CAA Field Athlete of the Week.

The JMU heptathletes didn't disappoint in their first competition of the outdoor season, as both freshman Summer Walter and junior Nicole Gilbert moved into the program's record book.

The James Madison track & field team had just three athletes competing Friday on the first of two days at the Liberty Collegiate Invitational, but all three fared well in their respective events.

JMU track & field wrapped up competition at the 114-team Raleigh Relays Saturday at North Carolina State. The Dukes placed fourth in the 4x800-meter relay and qualified for the ECAC Championships.
